What to look for in an SEO company

If you are launching a website or have an existing website that is sorely lacking traffic, then it is probably time for you to start thinking about search engine optimisation (SEO). Quite simply, you have two options available to you: you can conduct your own SEO, provided you have acquired the requisite knowledge, skills, and resources, or you can simply find a SEO company to do it for you. But beware!

Now, I am not going to go into the ins and outs of the search engine optimisation process, but rather offer you some straightforward advice for selecting that ideal SEO company - because some are vastly better than others. And we don"t want you to get ripped off. You should expect the following from your SEO expert:

Holistic Service
The practice of SEO has changed over the years, with the advent of search engines adopting complex algorithms to crawl, index, rank and positions web pages. In the past, adding keywords to your meta-tags and submitting your website to search engines was enough to get your site ranked. Now, a holistic approach is required that provides adequate on-page and off-page SEO techniques. In plain English, ensure that your SEO company offers:

Research & Analysis (Target Market & Competitors)
Search Engine Strategy
Web Copywriting
W3C Compliant Web Development
Optimisation of Meta Keywords & Descriptions, Titles, Headings, Image Tags and Hyperlinks
Link Submissions to Directories and Authority Websites
Article & Press Release Submissions
Blog Submissions
Social Media Interaction in Forums and Social Networks
Regular Ranking Reports (Weekly is Preferable)

Measurability
Key to any marketing success is measurability. It is very important to measure how effective your marketing endeavors are to avoid wasting time and money of ineffective methods and to measure the overall returns on successful ones. Measurability allows you to gauge performance - how much closer are you to achieving your initial objectives. Within the field of SEO, measurability relates to how your rankings have improved, how much more traffic is being directed to your website via search engines, and how many more enquiries or sales you are making as a result of this. Ensure that your SEO company can send you weekly reports outlining the status of your rankings, including how much they have increased from the previous report. Top SEO companies use automated software that can generate results from all the significant search engines out there. Ask your SEO company how they track your results.

Finesse
Professionalism in SEO relates to both the efficacy but also the presentation of the work. An unprofessional SEO company will pollute your website with spam and unreadable on-page content with which to trick search engines into indexing your site and rank you higher. Unfortunately, once visitors arrive at your website from search engines, if the presentation is bad and the content is unreadable, then they will likely click the back button and find another website. Finesse is important. Ensure that your SEO company employs a qualified and experienced SEO copywriter to edit your website copy. This will ensure that search engines will crawl, index, and rank your site correctly, but also motivate customers to buy or enquire about your products and services.

Experience
When choosing an SEO company, ensure that they have more than 5 years direct or related experience in the industry. It is important to invest in experts. But everyone will claim to be one. So ask for case studies and references of successful clients. Ask to contact their past clients and chat to them about their SEO successes. If they have a good record of accomplishment, then you can feel confident in the fact that they know what they are doing.

Additional Factors
Before committing to a proposal, ensure that clear milestones, contingencies, and levels of accountability have been established. Ask your SEO company what will happen if they do not deliver. If deliverables are not met, some SEO companies will deliver free service until this achieved - negotiate such contingencies. You will thank yourself down the line. Another important factor is transparency. It is vital that you know what you are paying for. Your SEO company must explain to you exactly how the process is to work, and encourage a transparent relationship. Always get competitive quotes - this will help you attain whether you are getting ripped off.

Beware of the following:
Unquantified guarantees - Do not accept a guarantee that is not quantified, for example, if they say that 5 terms will achieve first page rankings, then there must be some incentive if this benchmark is not reached - i.e. free service for 6 months.
A reluctance to describe clearly, what there methods are.
Limited offers - such as where there is no copywriting.

Stay tuned for more articles on how to choose your ideal SEO Company.

The Deadly Myth about Search Engine Optimization and Google

By Alex Roderick

In the present time, we are so obsessed with Search Engine Optimization and Google Page Rank that many of the webmasters tend to think that SEO and Top Positions in Google would lead them to a hidden treasure and would immediately result in Tens of Thousands of dollars of business flowing into their bank.

They are wrong, Top Rankings wouldn’t be your best bet always, I’ve seen websites in Top Positions in Google for the worlds most competitive keywords, sustaining there for a considerable time and then eventually, falling down, changed their business methodology, or changing their business plans altogether.

Apologies for my Grammatical Errors, but I’m only a techie trying to share my experience but not a Web Copywriter or a linguistic.

I wouldn’t name the website here, but I know well about them because I was trying to compete with them for two most competitive keywords “web design company” and “web designing company” If you doubt that these keywords are so competitive, I would like you to have a look at this great tool which would tell you how competitive a keyword and a phrase is, it’s fun to play with.

This website was on top for a long time, their portfolio was nice, their site design and layout was brilliant and there prices were very competitive, but suddenly one fine day I saw their business methodology totally changed, they were now selling an online casino package and have shut down their web design operations and kept them on a low profile (at least on their website it seems that way). After a month their rankings fell and they were virtually non existent on that keyword term, but of course they are on prominent position for their targeted keywords now once again, but the keywords are different obviously.

So why did they do that, If they were willing to foray into a different field, why did they leave their existent business, I would think because their existent business was not very profitable so they decided to shut it down and do something which is more worthwhile for them to do.

So, Top Rankings do not guarantee Mind Blowing Profits, If your Industry is over saturated, then you can’t count on Top Rankings for a pool of money flowing in to your business.

The idea is that Webmasters should not keep trying to compete on competitive keywords and spend all their valuable time and resources there, Top Rankings could help your business grow but it’s not the only way where you can grow your business, I was able to get top rankings on keywords “web design company” in Yahoo & MSN, so did it help my business?? The answer is – Not Much. Much of the Business (90% of it), I’m generating is from direct marketing, emailing and other traffic building activities. This is not good considering that 40% of Search Traffic comes from Yahoo & MSN, 50% from Google, and 10% from other search engines, so where did I go wrong. The answer is no where, I didn’t do anything wrong, It’s a fact that only 10-20% of your customers come from Search Engines by searching your most optimized keywords even if you are on Top 10 Positions on them. Of course if you solely don’t rely on Search Engines for your Business.

Opt in E-Mail Marketing is the cheapest media to grow your business, Currently I’m getting 150-200 inquiries from customers interested in my products and services, out of which only 5% of these inquires are coming from Yahoo & MSN Searches, so if I somehow manage to get top positions on my favorite keywords on Google also, would my inquiries increase considerably? I doubt that, it would surely help, but it’s not worth the sleep less nights I was devoting earlier for SEO.

I would now rather create a great looking website, launch brilliant products, develop more and more stuff in Flash, of course if it’s user friendly to my visitors and loads quickly, develop better advertising channels and wouldn’t care a damn about Search Engine Rankings, It would be better if I concentrate to convert my traffic better than creating textual ordinary looking pages for Search Engines or pray for Google’s Mercy on my website and awake countless nights for it, at least I learned the Lesson Quick.

The Lesson learned by me is to concentrate more on bringing visitors to your site and converting them well by giving them a sense of personal touch and value rather then only try and compete on Google Rankings and Page Rank.

Give them stuff for free, which is useful for them, provide them resources which are lying with you on your website for free, create a nice looking website, which interacts with your clients well, show your skills and the customers would love you, Merely getting a Top Ranking in Google and a Page Rank 7 won’t do wonders.

I have seen Page Rank 7 websites getting less than 50 visitors per day and Page Rank 4 Websites getting more than 500 visitors per day, So if you concentrate only giving your customers a value, it will automatically allow people to talk about you and give you your desired position, if you create a new site, provide valuable services, links will automatically flock to you and so do the visitors by word of mouth. It’s better to create a valuable site for your visitors then compete for the Page Rank 7.

Websites like Paypal.com, myspace.com, cnn.com, orkut.com etc didn’t have to spend very heavily on Search Engine optimization, where they did spend was on advertisements, pay per click, News and convert their customers well by providing exceptionally valuable and unique services, which lead to natural link building.

I doubt any link Building or SEO company would have built the 363, 000 links to paypal.com, or Yahoo would have hired 50 Search Engine Professionals to build their mammoth 1,990,000 links.

These companies concentrated on bringing more visitors to their site from every known channel and making them stick to their business rather than compete for Page Rank and top positions on a given keyword and they succeeded well.

While many sites which achieved Page Rank 7, by only competing for keyword position fail in the end, since they didn’t have an alternate sustainable business model or were not able to get their customers to buy their products.

One more myth that many people have is that if a given keyword is getting X amount of searches a month on Overture, they would perhaps receive the same amount of visitors on ther site too if they succeed in getting top rankings. That’s a myth.

For an example, my website is ranking No. 8 most of the times for the keyword “web design company” on Yahoo Search, According to Overture Keyword research tool the monthly searches done on this keyword are 13,000 for the month of January, 2007.

But according to my Webalizer stats, I’m getting not more than 100-120 visits per month from the given keyword, which is far less compared to the total number of visitors coming on my site ever month which is currently around 9000.

This website was on top for a long time, their portfolio was nice, their site design and layout was brilliant and there prices were very competitive.

I wouldn’t be concluding anything here, since it’s up to the readers to decide how they want to perceive and act upon my experience, However I welcome everyone reading this article to contact me anytime if they think I’m not correct on some facts, or if they wish to clarify their doubts, Please feel free to contact me my clicking the below link and filling the feedback form on my website.

I would be more than happy to assist you.

Two Quick Search Engine Optimization Techniques

If you have even the tiniest bit of web experience, you know that when it comes to obtaining exposure on the internet – search engines play a big role. You could have the most creative, informative website on the face of the internet, but if no one sees it – whats the point? This is why it is important to utilize optimization techniques. Using optimization techniques will help your website rise to the top of the search engines where it will be easily viewable to people searching for what you specialize in. Contrary to popular belief, optimization techniques are not hard to learn or implement. In fact there are two quick optimization techniques that you can utilize right now that will go along way in bringing traffic to your website.

The first of the optimization techniques is – make sure you use keywords that result from a full keyword analysis. When doing a keyword analysis you want to initially have a large list of keywords you can choose from. Try to think of every aspect of what you offer on your website, and how you would search for your OWN services if you were using a search engine. This is the most important of the optimization techniques. Try to also think of any obvious spelling mistakes. For example look at the following example of how often the single word 'calendar' is searched for every day in different variations:

'calendar': 10,605 times
'calender': 2,721 times
'calander': 1,549 times
'calandar': 256 times

As you can see, about thirty percent of all searches for the word 'calendar' are misspelled! This is why it is important to not only target your main keywords while implementing optimization techniques, but try to find places where you can plug in obvious misspellings as well. In fact, you can go as far as creating duplicate pages on your website dedicated and optimized to misspellings. This is an easy way to pick up traffic without having to fight over keywords, and it will not hurt your overall appearance any because the only people that will see the page with the mistakes – are the ones who searched using the mistakes! Optimization techniques focused on spelling mistakes are not very common, so you can be assured almost free traffic. Many choose to use keyword tools in this process to make sure they are using the most profitable keywords. Keyword tools will not only give you variations of the keywords you want to use, but will also give you the most popular misspellings of these words and which words will bring more traffic than others.

The second of the optimization techniques is – create a good TITLE right below the HEADER tag. This is the first thing search engines will look at to see if the page is relevant to a term that is being searched for. When implementing optimization techniques, if you have a good keyword or two in your title that competing pages don't have, you will have a good chance of reaching the top of search engines. When going through optimization techniques, many website owners skip right over this and often waste potential by making very generic TITLE tags. For example: Welcome to VirtualOfficeAid.com – Home Page. This is very generic and not beneficial for search engine optimization. Using the words 'welcome to' is especially a waste of space, assume that your visitors will feel welcome without you having to say so – and use the space to tell search engines what your site is about! A better title for this website using optimization techniques would be: Administrative Aid, Website Design, Desktop Publishing, SEO. This gives the search engines and the reader information on EXACTLY what they will find on the website. Also when using optimization techniques in your title, try to place only 40-60 characters between the TITLE tags.

SEO Advice: When To Use Subdomains

As a professional Search Engine Optimizer, I am frequently fielding questions asked by those lucky few who are new to the SEO field, and among these so-called "newbies" a recurring question often pops up - "Which of the following ways is best to structure site URLs?"
And so, it is with this recurring quandary in mind that I will attempt to answer the question, "which URL structure is best in terms of SEO, subfolders or subdomains?"
Short Answer: If the breadth of an issue or keyphrase will be covered in such detail that a new website should be constructed to best accommodate the content, or more simply, if the site"s graphical navigation will need to be altered, use subdomains. In all other cases, use subfolders.
Long Answer: To answer this question in detail, we"ll need to go over a few key facts regarding subdomains, subfolders and site themes.
Subdomains:
  • Represented in the URL by the characters after "http://" and the ones before ".site.com"
  • Are viewed by Search Engines as totally unique sites independent of the parent domain.
  • Site Authority (in other words, the ability for the site and its subsequent pages to rank in the search engines) is not passed down from the parent domain.
  • Can be listed on the first page of the SERPs along with main domain pages. Feasibly, all 10 of the results on the first page of a search engine could be subdomains of a single parent domain.

Subfolders:
  • Represented in the URL by the characters after ".site.com/" and before "filename.html".
  • Are viewed by Search Engines as a subdirectory within a site.
  • Site Authority is passed down from the main domain.
  • At most, one subfolder can appear on the first SERP from the same domain or subdomain.

Site Theme:
  • As a general rule, the more focused the theme of a site the easier it is for that site to rank for keywords directly related to its theme.
  • Is defined using all of the site"s pages, not just the homepage or top subpages.

So here"s the long answer:
Search engine optimization is all about driving the most traffic. Where the goal is to build an authority site with lots of great content that will be found by search engine driven visitors using laser-target search terms, as well as unique, "long-tail" search terms that most would never think to optimize for, but appear on pages in the subfolders of your site and drive traffic just the same.
Using subdomains may appear sexy because they can lead to a potentially larger number of back-links (though not if each subdomain is hosted on the same IP), or they can sway the SERPs in your favor by crowding out the top positions with your pages. But without proper promotion, a subdomain only stops potential laser-targeted as well as "long-tail" search visitors from finding your site.
My advice is only to use subdomains when the amount of content on a given topic is so burgeoning that it requires a separate navigation and design (i.e. its own website), or is of great enough quality that it will acquire links and stand on its own.
For example:
  • If you have a 15 page site about your lawn-care service, and 10 of those pages revolve around a special fertilizer you"ve developed, you may consider creating "specialfertilizer.site.com" so that you can market your fertilizer separately.
  • Take my company"s domain "objectwareinc.com". Recently, we built a subdomain "palm.objectwareinc.com", because we had so much information regarding our wireless application development solutions that it only made sense to create a separate site for it.

In this example, the focus is narrow but there is still an extensive amount of content. So we"re sending visitors to the subdomain using targeted keywords while visitors are also finding us using "long-tail" searches and landing on the pages of palm.objectwareinc.com subfolders.
The overall lesson here is to create subdomains ONLY when you have the quality and/or quantity of content to support them. Remember that subdomains are independent sites in the eyes of the search engines, meaning that in order for them to rank, they will require promotion and link building efforts.

Driving your website through Google Sandbox

What is Google Sandbox?

Google Sandbox is applied on new websites, it determines the timing of site inclusion as well as ranking in Google search engine results (SERPS).
This process could take up to 6-8 months, which could be against your plans causing frustration to webmasters.

The question is what is to be done during the time in which websites are in Google Sandbox?

Do not waste time on checking your website listings in results page instead emphasize on SEO methods to accelerate your listings & improve status of ranking results.
Also make efforts to appear on other major search engines such as MSN & Yahoo since they do not have sandbox like Google, this will help drive traffic to your website while waiting for Googlebot to index your pages.

Link building strategy is another important issue not only will it improve ranking but also it will help Googlebot spider to find your pages easier while it"s in the sandbox instead of repeatedly submitting your website every time.

Content is king

Main part for ongoing development of your website is to add new content on continuous basis since the most thing search engines are after is good quality websites with relevant content.

Conclusion at the end is that waiting for Google Sandbox is nothing but a waste of your precious time; instead do some useful efforts on developing your website with relevant content & adding inbound links as a part of your linking strategy to make Google happy with what it sees as well as your target visitor.

Using Yahoo To Get Website Visitors

The end user is always looking for content-rich and well-written sites. This means that any SEO marketing that places emphasis on these qualities starts with a huge advantage.

When done correctly, SEO activities must: - make search engines crawl the site; - make search engines index the site; - ensure a high ranking among SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages) for given keywords; - achieve a high page rank; - drive targeted traffic; - achieve high conversion rates among the site's visitors.

If you can"t help yourself and you want broad search terms, such as "toys," think through what it may take to pull that off. Variations on your favorite term may be best in the short term. If you start looking a year or two out, then make sure there aren"t site design, programming and link popularity flaws.

Getting a good list of keywords. (More keywords maximum number of ppl can be targeted)

The first thing you should look for in a SEO Firm is whether or not they use a non-disclosure agreement. Any SEO Firm who advertises who there clients are is putting their clients at risk to unethical practices that other SEO firms will use to get a website penalized or banned so they can help their own clients. Tough question, "What is SEO?". As with pretty much all internet-related terms, concepts and notions, that of "SEO" does not have a unique definition and it is a blurry concept in most people's mind

Effectively Using Overture/Yahoo To Get Website Visitors

Overture or now known as Yahoo because of Yahoo"s takeover, was the original inventor of the use of the P4P or Pay for Performance. Overture saw that the internet was fast becoming the easiest and most convenient way to shop, and advertising was going to hit at an all time high because of the many businesses in the arena.

To get a person to go to a site than others, it needs to be very visible. Providing ads that could direct potential consumers and costumers to their site would allow them to have an increase in traffic as well as sales. Yahoo provides a service that can put a site or company"s ad in their sites that can be shown when certain keywords are inputted.

Yahoo offers a chance for any company to increase their traffic by using their services. With more people being aware of your site, there would be more traffic and visitors to your site given the chance to view your pages as well as your products. With even a small percentage of successful sales, with a high traffic volume this could still be a substantial figure for your company. Getting a consistent substantial flow of website visitors is every company"s goal. Many methods are devised and utilized to ensure that there would be more people to boost the sales and to be aware of the existence of such a product or service. Website visitors are potentially the life blood of your internet based business.

Yahoo/Overture utilizes the same principle as Google"s Adwords. In fact, they are very similar to each other that they use keyword and keyword phrase searches and to determine which ads to show per search. When a person types in a keyword or keyword phrase to search for anything, the search engines gives out the results in a page. Then at the right side of the page, you will see selected ads that have paid for their ads to be viewed with certain keywords and keyword phrases searched.

There are numerous techniques and tools used to achieve SEO goals, and they should NOT be included within a definition.

As an (SEO), you need to have a very clear understanding of exactly how the rhythm relates to the beat. A good SEO Firm can do amazing things for your business. An unethical SEO firm can get you in big trouble that will take a lot of time and work to fix. Be careful when choosing an SEO firm and always go with your gut. If it feels wrong it probably is. If it sounds to good to be true it always is.

The right keywords are so important that without them, the chances of SEO marketing working for any site are close to nil.

Search Engine Optimization procedure that comply with search engines rules. Also know as ethical procedure.

Take your company name out of title tags.

Do yourself a favor and make title tags available for search terms, not your long company name. Only keep it if it"s short and useful from a title tag proximity and density standpoint.

For example, Lets say you run a car parts retail/wholesale site. You choose keywords that can prompt or trigger your ads to be shown in the page when a keyword is searched. When a search engine user types in Honda Accord, your ad may come up if you have designated that as one of your keywords. You don"t need to fully optimize your site with Search Engine Optimization methods and techniques.

While some labor so hard to make their site one of the high ranking sites per keyword search, you get the chance to be on the top of the list or at least in the first page of a search result increasing your chance to be clicked on. With that, you drive traffic and website visitors to your site a lot faster. You will have to pony up some cash when using this service though. There are different ways Yahoo/Overture will charge you. It may be in the number of Keywords or Keyword phrases your ad uses or in the many times your ad is clicked on. Others offer many other services like having your ad show up not only in the search engine pages but also with some third party sites.

Third party sites support ads that have the same theme or niche as them. With more areas your ad is shown, you increase the chances of people knowing about your site or product. With more website visitors you increase the sales of your site which makes your investment with your ads a wise one.

With so many competitions in the internet based businesses, it is necessary to take a huge leap forward from the pack by advertising. Yahoo/Overture will be a great place to start. Many have utilized their services and have reaped the rewards of this decision. It"s a marketing strategy that will increase your website visitors as well as increase your sales resulting to profit.

It takes money to make money, while there are some methods that are basically low cost or free, using a marketing service such as what Yahoo/Overture offers will provide results faster and on a larger scale. Many businesses have learned this the hard way, don"t be counted with them.

If well understood, you can perform SEO for your own website. Every piece of information required to carry out SEO is present online. The Link popularity is one of the most important thighs when it comes to SEO. Link popularity means the amount of links that point to your site. The link popularity while raise your site in the eyes of the search engines depending on the quality and quantity of the links.

FFA stands for Free For All, pages which are designed to carry a designated amount of links on each page. Have in mind that when comes to link popularity relevancy counts and links form this pages will not going to help you much. Add to this that FFA pages have very limited life span, you will get the picture. Cheap PLR Articles on promotion by wholesaler for less than $10. The boring-writing-technical-mumbo-jumbo writing stuff. How I fit into this category, I don"t know.

It takes a really professional SEO service to keep a client up there in the rankings. What with the frequent adjustments and changes leading search engines make that have resulted in ruin for many web sites. In recent times the main search engines have been constantly changing and modifying their rules and at times, this has caused great panic amongst many web masters.

Submit To Article Directories, What You Must Know!

There is always this obsession to please search engines and to do things to "trick" search engines to give your site the top slot in searches.

Still, what is SEO? Since there is no ultimate, fully comprehensible definition for "SEO", the only way to go is to take a look at several definitions and try to merge them in order to have the right perspective.

You may end up discouraging the SEO firm you"re paying if you hire them and then fail to review their suggestions. As an (SEO), you play the most crucial role in the band. Everyone in the group depends on your subtle (and sometimes not-so-subtle) lead. If the guitarist or saxophonist makes a mistake, hardly anyone will notice, but if the (SEO) makes a mistake, everyone in the band and the audience will instantly know that something is wrong.

Any company that isn't willing to put their money where there mouth is isn't worth taking a chance on. Also, read all the fine print VERY CAREFULLY! Some SEO firms will say they guarantee results but if you read the fine print you'll find that all they guarantee is that if you type your domain name in to a search engine that you'll be in the top 10. There are many SEO techniques. In general, these techniques can be categorized as On-Page Optimization, On-Site Optimization, and Off-Site Optimization. There are also two schools of SEO: white hat SEO and black hat SEO. White hat SEOs are those that play by the rule (actually guidelines provided by search engines).

3 Things You Must Do Before You Submit To Article Directories

To all writers and non-writers out there, now is the time to start digging up those creative writing skills back. With modern communication technology comes the popularity of information-based marketing, which is one of the oldest and most effective techniques in getting targeted prospects to sites and converting them into buyers. This is why article writing, submissions and publications are also getting popular. There are already many tools that people can use to make the process of distributing their articles more easily. Though this is invaluable in getting the contents more exposure, which is only half of the story. Let us take a look first at the common mistakes that some people make before submitting their contents to article directories:

1. Confusing the reason to promote the articles with the reason to write them. In article writing, there are three key benefits why you are promoting them; branding, lead generation and promotion, which are all part of your optimization efforts. But there is only one reason why you write an article, and that is to inform your audience. If the article is not focused on this primary and most important purpose, it will fail to achieve the three promotion benefits because no one will be interested in reading them. You need to figure out first how to get people to read what is in your article, then make them click on your resource box. You can achieve this by producing better contents.

2. Failing to maximize the promotional opportunities of article marketing. You may know already that your articles can help you generate additional links back to your site. But do you know that you can get more visitors and better search engine results from that same articles? Mention keywords at strategic places. Just be sure not to overdo them. Some are even using anchor texts which is also an effective method. But it is important to know that majority of the directories are not able to support this.

Translated, SEO means Search Engine Optimisation. Everybody who has a site want's a lot of traffic on it. And the best way to get good targeted traffic is from Search Engines like Google, yahoo or Msn. But For your site to get the great traffic that you've always dreamed it must rank well in search engines. And this is where SEO comes up.

The right keywords are so important that without them, the chances of SEO marketing working for any site are close to nil.

Search Engine Optimization procedure that comply with search engines rules. Also know as ethical procedure. SEO firms appreciate informed clients - to a limit. Read the articles. Pick up an SEO book.

SEO isn"t just about optimizing individual website pages as if they were self-contained units. An SEO should determine the most relevant website "theme" (taking both client and market considerations into account) and make sure that the SEO effort stays focused on that theme / topic.

There are numerous techniques and tools used to achieve SEO goals, and they should NOT be included within a definition.

Remember that is not only about the links back to your site. Part of doing well in your article marketing is getting picked up by publishers with a large number of audiences and gaining the ability of leveraging other brands because of the quality of your work. Better search engine results also are great benefits.

But these things do not put much money in your pocket. There are other factors that can turn your article marketing efforts into an opportunity that can boost your earnings. Not just increase the number of visitors to your site. Start out with a plan and see to it that your article will serve the function that you intended it to have.

3. Publishing content that does not help your readers.

Maybe in the process of writing articles, you are thinking that all that is you wanted is links back to your site. And any visitors it can generate are fine. Guess what? Not all article banks and directories are going to accept your content automatically. Oftentimes, they have some guidelines and specifications on the articles that they are accepting.

You can double the number of sites you can submit to by writing articles that the directories want to share with other people. All it takes is one publisher with a hundred thousand readers to increase your potential audience overnight. Write the articles that publishers want in their publications if you want your article marketing to work the most effective way for you. This also means you have to obey the standard guidelines, spell checks, researching on a good topic and even hiring a writer to produce a good content on your behalf.

In the end, it is all really a matter of choice on your part. You can start getting a little exposure from increased links back but on a very basic level. Or enjoy massive exposure from a little extra time making quality contents. It will be your choice. You may not be aware of the fact that an article submitted on directories is not meant to have the same level of exposure as highly-targeted content ones geared on a narrow group of people. Learn the difference between these two and it will surely help you know what kinds of articles to write and to submit.

What needs done is research on what works and what doesn"t, what"s ok with search engines and what isn"t.

PageRank. It's some kind of ranking system invented by Google. The only real problem with PageRank in SEO is that is given much more attention that it deserves. The PageRank can bee seen with the PageRank meter included in the Google toolbar. You can think of it as a tool that measures the popularity of a wesite but only in the eyes of Google. Get Wholesale 10,000 PLR Articles from http://www.article-market.info at less than $10! Many SEO Companies offer to the prospective client"s deals on base on delivered traffic. This traffic to be measured easily, they propose new domain, or sub domain to be created, optimized and to deliver traffic though this domain.

For instance, you"re selling decorative lamps, right? in the SEO article writing process, list down "decorative" and "lamps". Wholesale Articles on every topic. Get 10,000 articles wholesale at less than $10. The first and most important thing that professional SEO should do is dramatically increase traffic by ensuring that the client web site is highly visible through a prominent page ranking.

SEO Marketing or Search Engine Optimization not only works but in fact is highly effective and has been responsible for transforming many unknown web sites into popular destinations on the World Wide Web today.

Why Adsense Is Essential For Content Sites

Most SEO Marketing strategies may work dramatically in the short term but fail quickly simply because it has been designed without the end user in mind.

The final step to SEO article writing is.....proofread your SEO article and make sure they flow. The problem with SEO writing is that your thoughts might come in buckets....a splash here and a splash there.

You may end up discouraging the SEO firm you"re paying if you hire them and then fail to review their suggestions. Many potential clients are scared by the search engine optimization process. They feel that to achieve top search engine rankings, they must cede control of their site to the SEO who might run roughshod over its look, feel, and messaging. SEO / Client relationships need not be so contentious.

The fifth and most important thing you should look for is a company that wants to stick with you for the long run. SEO takes time to get results and it takes a lot of work to maintain those results. The Web Search Workshop : "The term used to describe the marketing technique of preparing a website to enhance its chances of being ranked in the top results of a search engine once a relevant search is undertaken.

3 Reasons Why Adsense Is Essential For Content Sites

To know why Adsense is essential for your content sites is to know first how this works.

The concept is really simple, if you think about it. The publisher or the webmaster inserts a java script into a certain website. Each time the page is accessed, the java script will pull advertisements from the Adsense program. The ads that are targeted should therefore be related to the content that is contained on the web page serving the ad. If a visitor clicks on an advertisement, the webmaster serving the ad earns a portion of the money that the advertiser is paying the search engine for the click.

The search engine is the one handling all the tracking and payments, providing an easy way for webmasters to display content-sensitive and targeted ads without having the hassle to solicit advertisers, collect funds, monitor the clicks and statistics which could be a time-consuming task in itself. It seems that there is never a shortage of advertisers in the program from which the search engine pulls the Adsense ads. Also webmasters are less concerned by the lack of information search engines are providing and are more focused in making cash from these search engines.

The first reason why Adsense is essential for content sites is because it already has come a long way in understanding the needs of publishers and webmasters. Together with its continuous progression is the appearance of more advanced system that allows full ad customization. Webmasters are given the chance to choose from many different types of text ad formats to better complement their website and fit their webpage layout. The different formatting enables the site owners the possibility of more click through from visitors who may or may not be aware of what they are clicking on. It can also appeal to the people visiting thus make them take that next step of looking up what it is all about. This way the people behind the Adsense will get their content read and making profit in the process.

SEO = abbreviation for "Search Engine Optimization", the process of optimizing and tuning a web site and gaining online awareness for it, in order to deliver targeted visitors and ensure high conversion rates.

As an (SEO), you need to have a very clear understanding of exactly how the rhythm relates to the beat.

Don"t get hung up on what search terms didn"t pop in the Top 30. Focus on your traffic growth and conversions.

Less competitive keywords at your site will ensure that your site comes out tops for the particular keywords you target. Search Engine Optimization procedure that did not comply with search engine rules. Widely used by many SEO specialist to get a good rank in a shorter period of time.

The second reason is the ability of the Adsense publishers to track not only how their sites are progressing but also the earnings based on the webmaster-defined channels. The recent improvements in the search engines gives webmasters the capability to monitor how their ads are performing using customizable reports that has the capacity to detail page impressions, clicks and click-through rates. Webmasters and publishers can now track specific ad formats, colors and pages within a website. Trends are also easily spotted. With the real-time reporting at hand, the effectiveness of the changes made will be assessed quickly. There would be time to sort out the contents that people are making the most clicks on. The ever-changing demands would be met while generating cash for the webmasters and publishers. The more flexible tools are also allowing webmasters to group web pages by URL, domain, ad type or category, which will provide them some accurate insight on which pages, ads and domains are performing best.

The last and final reason is that the advertisers have realized the benefits associated having their ads served on targeted websites. Thus increasing the possibility that a prospective web surfer will have an interest in their product and services. All because of the content and its constant maintenance. As opposed to those who are no using Adsense in their sites, they are given the option of having other people do their content for them, giving them the benefit of having successful and money-generating web sites. Adsense is all about targeted content, the more targeted your content is, the more target the search engines" ads will be. There are some web masters and publishers who are focused more on their site contents and how best to maintain them rather than the cash that the ads will generate for them. This is the part where the effectiveness is working its best.

There was a time when people were not yet aware of the money to be achieved from advertisements. The cash generated only came into existence when the webmasters and publishers realized how they can make Adsense be that generator. In those days, the content were the most important factors that is taken quite seriously. It still is. With the allure of money, of course.

You also need to keep yourself up to date with search engine news, regular algorithm updates, user search pattern, competition check and also monitor the link building partners in order to ensure that your links have not been dropped, update your on-page optimization regularly to ensure your pages are informative and in tune with the search pattern.

META tags are special tags included at the top of a HTML page. Their purpose is to provide extra information about the web page. The most influential tags for search engine ranking are the Keywords tag and the Description tag. Even the biggest companies in SEO industry do not give such a guarantee. There are companies who claim that if they don"t achieve specific number of top 10 positions, you get your money back. Take even this with great caution, and be sure to read their guarantee 2 times, including the small letters on the bottom (if there are any). Many of them will attempt to propose you non competitive phrases, which will give you no traffic and therefore you will have no benefit from this.

Writing is a very personal thing, I discovered. Some people have the talent for writing creative stuff. Some people have the talent for writing ads. Some write excellent factual stuff. It is true that anybody with some good knowledge on search engines can easily achieve the feat of getting a site to climb up the ranks in key searches and thus direct hordes of traffic to the client web site. But then this is only half the battle. Get 1,000 Article PLR from wholesaler.

In recent times the main search engines have been constantly changing and modifying their rules and at times, this has caused great panic amongst many web masters.

Top 10 Seo Mistakes And What To Do To Correct It

By Anthony Yap

Search engine optimization (SEO) is a set of methods aimed at improving the ranking of a website in search engine listings (Wikipedia)

This definition of SEO sounds simple, but beware! Search engine optimization is a minefield, even for professionals, and although necessary to a business, should not be undertaken lightly. Below, is a brief look at the top 10 mistakes and how to correct them.

1. Non-Relevant Linkage. External links to your site play a large part in most of the major search engine algorithms and can be considered an endorsement of your site. But if you are being linked to from sites that have no relevance to your content, then that is now considered a negative endorsement and will not raise your ranking in the search engines. Ensure all links to your pages are from relevant sites. Be wary of link builders who acquire links from gambling, pharmaceutical or adult themed sites, especially if your site is not of the same theme. Link building is as much a science as it is an art, one we take very seriously.

2. Untargeted Keywords. The people who use search engines are normal people who are not likely to use words used in advertising brochures. Get to know how your customers ask for your services/products and use these in your content. Often times, actual keyword research will surprise you.

3. Excessive Graphics and Flash Content. This looks good on a web page, but to Search Engine crawlers it means little. Search engines are looking for content and keywords and relevancy to the search terms. By all means have some graphics, but dont forget the meat. This doesnt mean Flash designed websites are bad necessarily. In fact, some big businesses do use it. For most webmasters though, Flash sites are best avoided. Unless your Flash designer does high-end websites and knows how to integrate the content and keywords within the Flash, hybrid sites combining Flash headers with HTML content will be a good option.

4. Believing all search engines are the same. What pleases Yahoo might not necessarily please MSN or Google. Optimize your content, keywords, inbound links, and internal linking structure so that there is something for at least one of the three top search engines.

5. Multiple Search Engine Submissions. In the very early days of search engines, this technique may have had some success, but now it can lead to slower indexing and rankings. A site with inbound links from other sites will get indexed naturally and search engine submission is not necessary. In fact, multiple submissions may be construed as an attempt to spam the search engines. The top 5 engines account for more than 90% of all activity so it is wise not to ruin your chances of ranking naturally in the search results (comScore Media Metrix qSearch data, August 2005)

6. Incorrect Use of Title Tags. Most people consider the title to be for their company name or product. Not so. You must include your most important search phrases within your title tag and if you do want your company name there, keep it for the end. Keep the title tag to less than 65 characters long to avoid the appearance of title tag keyword-stuffing.

7. Use of Black Hat techniques. Techniques such as doorway pages, hidden text, and overstuffing keywords may have had success in the past but now they will earn you penalties and could even get you banned. Avoid them altogether if you are seeking long term success. Some black hat techniques can work on a short term basis, but in the long run prove very costly.

8. Expecting Immediate Results. SEO is an ongoing process and should be treated as such by your SEO company. Good optimization will involve building good links with quality sites and this takes time.

9. Use of Unethical SEO Consultants. Beware the consultant that guarantees rankings with no past clients to back it up with or claims of special relationships with search engines. Many such "consultants" or "experts" will probably take your money and run. Choose a reputable SEO consultant, one who will keep in regular contact with progress reports and updates.

10. Decide to do optimization in-house. Probably possible in the past, but now with ever increasing sophistication of search engine algorithms, this is an area best left to an expert. Furthermore, the good SEO experts usually have other income streams from their online marketing activities and a regular paycheck to work full-time simply doesn't justify their time invested. We've yet to meet a good SEO who doesn't have virtual real estate bringing in a nice chunk of cash.

SEO SERVICE AND WEB DEVELOPMENT

What an Internet user may not be aware of is that every time they enter a keyword search phrase on a search engine like Google, Yahoo or MSN, there are hundreds of thousands of websites competing for this keyword phrase. Its there for imperative to do everything possible to get web pages listed within the top 20 twenty results, this is the first 2 pages displayed by the search engines, as a general rule of thumb 10 websites are listed on each page generated by the search engines. Internet user may not be aware of it, but every time they look at the results page after conducting a web search, they will show a tendency to visit only the websites listed on the first two pages

Because user traffic is essential in the success of a website, many website owners and web development specialists who are serious about doing business on the Internet will do everything they can do to get top rankings in search engines. The most effective strategy in achieving this is by submitting the website to search engine optimisation (SEO), and usually by hiring an SEO firm to do the SEO service for them.

How does an SEO firm carry out the SEO services that it offers? SEO services are always two-fold, and these two sides always go hand in hand. One side involves on-page SEO, while the other deals with off-page SEO.

When we speak of on-page SEO services, we are talking about how an SEO firm would optimise the content of the website itself. The articles on the website are written in such a way that they contain the keywords relevant to what the website is all about. The keywords are also imbedded in the alt tags and the meta-tags used in coding the website. Keywords are important because these are among the components that search engines look for when they read a website.

Off-page SEO services, on the other hand, involve link building. Search engines also judge how relevant a website is to certain set of keywords entered by a user based on the links that a webpage contains pertaining to those keywords, as well as the quality of those links. In order to attain this, SEO firms work on link building and link exchanges for the websites that they developing.

Because of the tightness of the competition on the Internet for top search engine rankings, SEO services are in demand and running an SEO firm is turning out to be a very lucrative business. An SEO firm can easily promise top rankings for any client"s website; the question is: Would the SEO firm be able to deliver it?

A website owner should always be careful in picking an SEO firm that will perform the SEO services that he requires. Track record and reliability are the necessary qualities that all SEO firms must have. Choosing the right SEO firm to conduct the needed SEO services can make or break the success of a website.

Top 12 SEO Tips for 2007

by Gary R. Beal

1. SEO Content – Regular, frequent and high quality content produced by people with knowledge in the field, or people that you can trust to do their homework before jumping headfirst into writing it. This is crucial both at the search engine algo level and the PPC campaign design level. And its not just a fresh article once a month. If you examine your log files you will see how often the SERP's comeback to visit. Once you are in good with them, they hit your site 1-3+ times a day. It will only do this if it sees fresh content, via your navigation. There is a point at which the bots will and won't come back and crawl. They won't if they don't see fresh content. They will come back to your index (homepage) to find the fresh content, if they don't find it they will leave. If they do find fresh content they will continue to navigate throughout your site via the 'proper' navigation mentioned in this list below. Fresh content throughout your entire site is costly and time-consuming, but will separate you and elevate you from the rest.

2. Inbound links to your site from relevant and trusted sites – Links from trusted sites; links from pages with a higher PR(4+) and less than 50 outbound links; links from pages with a lower PR and less than 10-25 outbound links (Keyword-rich anchor text as well). Preferably forums and blogs (or Viral Marketing) are some of the strongest referrers. This needs to be a permanent, ongoing project, and the links should be in place for at least 12-18 months for optimal effect. Getting 50 or 1000 this month, then dropping to just a few next month is a huge red flag for all the SE's. A steady link building scheme is required to earn top rankings. This means no link farm's.

Let me quickly explain about link farms and the way that the SE's see them. If you are actively and voluntarily participating in a linking scheme you are trying to manipulate their results. They value natural linking in their algorithms highly so they do not look link farms kindly now, or anytime in the future. It is one of the possible methods they have to value a website. This is why you hear so many of the pros say "content is king". One way or the other you need to attract traffic natuarally or the least make it look like you have.

3. Individual Title and Descriptions fro SEO - The argument is alive and well, and continuing as it has and will for several years. Title tags are how the SE's identify the relevancy of your page (compared to the end-users search query), not just in Organic ranking but in Paid Placement as well. Descriptions are how (organically) the SE's place a relevancy rating on your page.

4. SEO Site Architecture/Navigation – This includes menus, all the way to how each section on a site's pages are interlinked with each other.

5. Keyword Terminology - In your content, use 2 or 3 word keyword phrases that are likely to be searched for by users. Don't over-do-it, but be sure everything is in line and included - Keyword Title; Keyword phrase in description (1st line); Internal navigation keyword links; Fresh keyword rich content.

6. Universal XML Sitemaps for SEO - Providing an XML sitemap is one of the easiest things you can do to help search engines traverse your site. Google, Yahoo and MSN have all adopted this "standardized" tool. Having a sitemap and then submitting it through WEBMASTER Central will tell you not only when the crawl (usually 1-2 days) is complete, but also if there are any errors that the bots found.

7. Rich Media – Or concentrating on utilising video, image and audio search. Google is and I believe Yahoo and MSN will be offering big incentives to move into these areas, provided you can utilize this according to your current ad structure, demographics and product or service. Flash builders are a dime-a-dozen. Utilize them to create interactive ads.

8. Web 2.0 - Utilising blogs and forums more to improve search such as www.flickr.com , www.myspace.com , www.technorati.com, www.simpy.com, and others. Also put these "public bookmarks" buttons (AddMe to Google) in your site and your articles. This is quickly becoming a huge SEO tool.

9. Mobile Web - Google, Yahoo and MSN mobile are nearing and making your site accessible to all mobile web browsers is increasingly important. Remember when Firefox and Opera came out and everything didn't work or look right? (kinda like today on a much smaller scale). That's all there is to becoming mobile compliant.

10. Content Relevancy - ensuring everything is neat and relevant across a site. Irrelevant links and content could be detrimental. Map your entire site in a hand-written tree and link them accordingly. Then use this to create a sitemap, and add a link to it to your homepage, and/or your navigation.

11. Constant Monitoring of Paid and Organic Analytical Information - Re-evaluation and improvements based on user stats and new industry changes. Having an SEO expert in this field is vital. (e.g. If you have a PPC account with a few thousand keywords that are working for you that is proving successful, great job. If you want to double the traffic whilst cutting your costs in half, then you'll need an SEO expert to know what these analytics mean)

12. Become a More Trusted Site – Links are great but links from trusted sites are KING. If you need to work 10 times as long writing articles, creating Charitable Ebay auctions, endorsing a football team or a fraternity, do whatever you have to do to get links such as from a .edu or .gov. This will almost instantly boost your trust and especially your organic rankings. Other potential trust issues include GeoTrust and HackerSafe certifications or even going to a secure server.

A Word About Website Popularity - Yes, this is measured by all the search engines, and always has been. (Remember when you open your Google PPC account and it asked you about providing behaviorally statistical information?) Whether you use analytical and tracking tools or not, all the SE's do. This is part of the method they used to use before the more advanced algorithms of today. Unfortunately, you can't directly control this, but with the rest of these tips you can definitely improve it.

At the end of the day SEO (Search Engine Optimization) comes down to long hours and hard work.

The payoff through is that the first time you wake up in the middle of the night and check your rankings and your in the top position, or your clients site is at the top, all the hard work becomes worth the late nights and early mornings.

Good Luck.

Search Engine Ranking Density - Part 2

By Jose Nuñez

In the last part of this articles, I will discuss how much density percentage is good? Again, this will apply to both new and existing sites, and I am covering here what to know about keyword density.

The importance of keyword density.

Keyword density can be very beneficial when done right, but it can also have a very negative influence when overdone. This is known as "keyword stuffing". When you stuff keywords in your page, this will be detected and your site will get penalized for doing so. This could go as far as getting your entire site blacklisted from a particular search engine, if you are found keyword stuffing too many times.

There is no secret keyword formula.

No matter what you may think, or read on forums or even articles by such "SEO Gurus", there is no secret formula for keyword density. There are, however, certain guidelines that need to be followed, and they are available to the public form the search engines themselves. Keywords density is one of most critical elements in SEO, and if you can master it you get higher rankings for your site.

So what is the right keyword density?

Your keyword density must be right to improve your search engine ranking. The "ideal" keyword density will always help to achieve high rankings. But how much is too much? If too low, you will not get the maximum benefits, if too high your site might get flagged as spam… Ok, there is no "one number fits all" here, but based on real case studies, the average top ranking Google site averages basic 1.9% keyword density. I wouldn't go over 2%. This is an average value, and I am talking about basic percentages here, not complex. But it translates well to their complex values.

Visit our website for a full version of this Search Engine Ranking article.

Search Engine Ranking Density - Part 1

By Jose Nuñez

This article will guide you through the main myths around keyword density and SEO. Even though keyword density should be a part of your SEO efforts, there is a lot of confusion about what "density" is and how to apply it properly.

There are 2 ways of calculating density.

The basic method consists of measuring the number of times a keyword appears on the page as a percentage of the total word count of that page. The complex method consists of measuring keyword density of the page plus the text components in meta tags: Title, Keywords, Alt Text, Description, and Comments. Most SEOs refer to the first method when talking about keyword density though. But, how do search engines measure keyword density? They actually use the complex method to measure it. I will explain later how to adjust to this.

Were should the keywords be used?

Diversify the density of your keywords in different areas of your page. Starting with the Title, and following with the beginning of the page, like in the headings, other sub-headings, and in the introductory paragraphs would certainly be of benefit. Every search engine algo is different, so you must choose an average keyword density that can make your site rank well in the top ten positions in the SERPs.

Articles Search Engine Ranking - Part 2

By Jose Nuñez

The last part of this article will show you that getting targeted traffic is a direct result of this search engine ranking process. This will apply to both new and existing sites, and I am covering here what to do when writing articles.

The power of links and your article.

Use linking within your article to expand information sources or further detail topics. Reference pages, news sources, forums, bog posts, are example of resources you can offer and the user can choose to follow if needed. Now, it is equally important that your links are well defined and easy to spot by using standards when possible.

Apply SEO principles to your article.

It is important to create titles and headings that relate to what the article is about. Also, try to keep the article length to no more than 500 words, written with simple language, and providing clear and useful information. Always impart concrete knowledge to your readers. You should focus on the most important points in the topic, outlining the key areas of it. To do this, you can use headings, bold type and lists, like in the case of this particular article.

There is a lot more to article writing, but every situation is different, and for every website, the application of concepts discussed in these areas are different as well.

What is link building and how it can impact search engine rankings?

Search engine optimization comprises of On Page Optimization and Off Page Optimization. As of now Off Page optimization has higher significance than On Page optimization for search engines like Google, Yahoo & MSN.

What is Off Page Optimization?

Improving Link Popularity
Using keyword rich anchor text
Improving Google PR

What is Link Popularity & why is it required?

Link Popularity is defined as the number of incoming links your site domain has in each search engine. This is like the number of positive votes your site domain has on the internet. So, higher the number should be your primary goal. But you should make a note here that having a higher number of incoming links is not just enough. The quality of the incoming links matters a lot.

Search engines like Google, Yahoo & MSN would rank your website higher or lower in the search engine results depending on your link popularity.

How to check your Link Popularity?

In the search bar of any of the major search engines like Google, Yahoo or MSN type the following and press enter:

link:http://www.yoursitedomain.com (Please replace "yoursitedomain" with your website"s URL)

This would give you an idea as how many websites on the internet linking to your website.
What is link building & what are the different types?

Link building is the off page optimization strategy to improve your link popularity. There are basically two types of link building.

Reciprocal Link Building
Reciprocal linking means there is one incoming and one outgoing link, i.e. there is link exchange between your site and the linking site. You first link to the other website and request the webmaster if they would like to link back.

Non reciprocal Linking

Non reciprocal linking is to have only the incoming link without your site linking back. This would carry more value than the reciprocal link. But, this does not mean that reciprocal linking is not worth to do. It has it"s importance. Non reciprocal linking is better but a little tougher to achieve.

How to do reciprocal link building?

You need to find the websites which has similar theme as yours but not direct competition and request a link exchange. Once you find the right websites then you add a link to these websites on your links page and send an individual email to each one of these website owners.

Now, you should take care of the anchor text, also known as linking text. This is the text which is displayed on the other website linking to your website. This is how the HTML tag looks like:

Example:anchor text

The anchor text should be the best keyword describing your website and it has high value attached to it.

These are the three basic things you would need before you request a link exchange with the link partner websites.

Title: This is the anchor text
URL: The webpage URL you want the link to.
Description: Describing the purpose of your website in brief and do not forget to mention your keywords.

The next thing you should look into is the Google PR (Page Rank) of the linking webpage. The higher the Google PR the higher link value you get which would be converted to higher rankings in Google search engine.

Now, internet is an ocean and finding these websites, their Google PR and emailing them is a tough manual process. You can do this but may take years before you can build decent link popularity.
Is there a way out?

Yes! you bet!

There are quite a few SEO Software tools which would help you implement reciprocal link building. But making the decision as which SEO Software tool is right for you is the BIG question.

Each SEO software has it"s own limitations as what they can achieve. The best thing to do is if these SEO Software companies have a trial version, feel free to download and test it out. One another way is to read the honest SEO Software reviews at http://www.seo-softwares.com/seo-software-reviews.html. I personally recommend http://www.seo-softwares.com/seo-elite.html

Look out for my next article where I would talk about the easy ways to get a lot of non reciprocal links.
